Commercial buildings and industrial plants account for 50% of our nation’s primary energy use and cost about $400 billion annually to power/operate. The Better Buildings Challenge is aimed at achieving the goal of doubling American energy productivity by 2030 while motivating corporate and public-sector leaders across the country to save energy through commitments and investments. More than 285 organizations are partnering with the Energy Department to achieve 20 percent portfolio-wide energy savings and share successful strategies that maximize efficiency over the next decade. Across the country, partners have shared energy data for more than 32,000 properties and are reporting energy savings of 20 percent or more at 4,500 properties, and 10 percent or more at 12,000 properties.

Our cooling tower, is a little bit different setup, since this is a multi-use building – not on the roof, like you typically see obviously, a vital component to our system, HVAC, refrigeration

We should go over here and check out the power bands and the belts because you know, these have those big, ginormous motors and they’ve got some belts back here – so these are the power bands. They’ve got a lot of spares, just like we do, and it’s because they’re constantly breaking and if you’re not putting that proper maintenance intention – they’re hard to get to inside –that’ll waste a lot of energy.

We’ve even changed over to some different belts, haven’t we gotten some pretty unique, different-style belts?

We’ve gone to different style belts on some of our fans. Better efficiency with the cut belts versus the solid belts.
